A Positive Experience for your Child
One of our primary goals in general dentistry is to help shape positive attitudes toward the dentist from the earliest ages. We work to create a warm, friendly environment to help children feel secure and make sure to communicate with them directly in a way that builds trust. We also use fun nicknames for our equipment and treatments.
Your child’s routine visits will help build good dental hygiene habits and healthy teeth. Ongoing care also helps prevent cavities, improve habits in dental hygiene, evaluate ongoing growth and development.
Our pediatric dentists understand the unique needs of children and are committed to making their dental visits as comfortable and stress-free as possible. From routine check-ups to more advanced procedures, our team has the expertise and experience to provide the highest quality dental care for kids of all ages.
We believe that a positive dental experience in childhood can set the foundation for good oral health throughout life, which is why we take the time to educate kids and their parents about the importance of proper dental hygiene. Our pediatric dentists also work closely with parents to develop customized treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each child.
Common Topics We Get Questions About
First Time Visit
On your first visit, you will see one of our dentists for a comprehensive exam to evaluate your overall oral health. This exam involves a thorough review of your health history, and our doctors will determine what type of professional cleaning regimen you will need. The doctors also will diagnose any oral health issues that may require treatment.
Dental X-Rays
All x-rays in our office are digital, which are 70% less radiation than conventional film. X-rays will be needed at most exams for our dentists to evaluate your oral health (bone and tooth structure under the gums).
Dental x-rays are safe. The American Dental Association states the following: Radiation exposure associated with dentistry represents a minor contribution to the total exposure from all sources, including natural and man-made.
After the Exam
There won’t be any surprises before or after exams. We will provide all the information you need to make educated decisions about your care—from scheduling treatment appointments to understanding your financial obligations. We also will remind you of appointments and any pre-appointment preparation.
Dental Cleanings
Cleanings twice a year from our excellent dental hygienists are key to maintaining good oral health. Exams following each cleaning allow our dentists to see if anything has changed since your last visit. Our doctors will diagnose any problems and discuss treatment options. Also, our dentists and dental hygienists will provide any advice needed to help you improve your oral health habits and limit the risk of problems.
Full-Mouth Rehab
Our goal with a full-mouth rehabilitation is to improve your smile while also correcting any deeper issues. When we lose teeth or grind them down, we increase pressure and wear on our jaw joint. This can lead to jaw pain but also manifest as headaches or pain and tenderness in the neck and shoulders. Full-mouth rehab includes a series of treatments that rebuild and restore the appearance and function of the entire mouth. Treatment is customized for each patient’s unique set of problems to achieve a pain-free smile that also benefits your overall health.
If you experience any of these conditions, you may benefits from a full-mouth rehab:
- Jaw Pain
- Worn or cracked teeth
- Chronic headaches
- Moving teeth
- Clicking and grinding noises in the jaw joint
- Flattened teeth
- Fillings and crowns that frequently break or come out.
Preventing & Treating Gum Disease
The gums and bones surrounding our teeth are the foundation of any healthy and beautiful smile. The health of our gums and bones can be compromised as we age, especially when we practice certain habits, like smoking. Unchecked gum disease can result in losing teeth that are otherwise healthy. With early diagnosis and treatment, we can prevent the progression of gum disease and the loss of teeth.
